Whether you are looking for history, great southern fare, or sports during your day out, Tuscaloosa has plenty to offer. Tuscaloosa is one of the oldest counties in Alabama, and within its boundaries you will find its rich and storied past in Native American legends, Civil War skirmishes, educational and athletic accomplishments, and the Civil Rights Movement. Throughout the county, physical vestiges of this rich heritage abound: antebellum homes, quiet old cemeteries, landmark downtown business establishments, and beautiful ruins.
The French influence is evident in this 1827 inn and stagecoach stop. It was once frequented by legislators when the capitol of Alabama was Tuscaloosa. Authentic antique furnishings and memorabilia from the capitol period are featured here.
