Adult Education Programs
Shelton State Community College is a two-year community college located in Tuscaloosa and is one of the largest two-year colleges in the state of Alabama. Approximately 7,000 students are enrolled in some form of coursework, including around 3,000 full-time students. Here you can find a big range of courses, not only to improve your English language but also different academic programs in diverse areas.
English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are offered free of charge in Shelton State where you can learn English skills by using real life situations like going to the doctor’s office or filling out a job application as well as providing a civics’ component.

Global Café Language Learning Center
Global Café is based in one to one methodology. You can contact them, set an appointment and enjoy of a relax conversation with both community members or American students. It is a good way of learning and making new friends at the same time that practice the English language.

Conversational English classes are taught by trained volunteers. All classes meet in the basement of First Baptist’s main building, beneath the chapel and sanctuary. All levels are offered. No pre-registration is needed. Everyone is welcome!

Transportation: A bus can pick you up for your class on Thursday mornings. Please call the church office at 205-345-7554 by Wednesday if you need a ride. Sometimes teachers and students can offer transportation for other classes.
Childcare: Provided free of charge for children fours years old and younger in the Family Ministry Building
